Measure the height difference
The distance from grade to the finished shed floor affects how long the ramp needs to be for comfortable use. Avoid making the approach steeper than the equipment can handle safely.
Make it wide enough
Measure the widest equipment that will use the ramp and allow comfortable clearance on both sides.
Provide firm support
The ramp needs a stable base and suitable framing for the loads it will carry. Follow an appropriate design rather than relying on thin boards laid over the ground.
Plan for traction and water
Outdoor ramps get wet. Choose a surface and construction approach that provides useful footing and allows water to drain.
